Reconstruction Systems for Ancient Sound Carriers

At the end of 90th years the Institute has developed new technology and the necessary equipments for nondestroying restoration of the ancient sound carriers ( phonograph records, Edissons wax cylinders ).
The optical and mechanical system created by Institute, allows to restore a sound practically from all types ancient phonograph records and sound platens.
Thanks to this technology, the IIR carried out a number of works for preservation of a cultural heritage of nations of the world, such as:
  • Collection of ancient sound carriers of Charles Nilsen library of University of Aargus (Denmark); ;
  • Collection of ancient sound carriers of Narodova biblioteka w Warszawie (Poland);
  • Collection of ancient sound carriers of Ukrainian musical folklore of the beginning of XX century (collection of Joseph Razdolsky (650 carriers);
  • Collection of ancient sound carriers of Russian State Central museum of musical culture (Russia, Moscow).
The IIR also issues and distributes compact discs - M.Beregovsky Collection of the Jewish musical folklore.
For the powerful contribution to preservation of a world cultural heritage, director of the IIR Dr. V. Petrov has been awarded by "David's Star" ( award of the State of Israel ).

Едісон Томас Алва (Thomas Alva Edіson) (1848-1931) - американський вчений і винахідник, що мав більш 1000 патентів. Більшість своїх винаходів зробив в лабораторії Менло Парк, Нью Джерсі, в 1876-1887, включаючи створення електричної лампочки та фонографу. Винайшов систему розподілу електроенергії споживачам.

Engineers of the Institute finished creation of technology and specific equipment for mass production of microprismatic reflective elements (cataphotes) for equipping of highways, vehicles and personal safety means.
Technological cycle has been developed at the Institute from making of stampers to replicating of microprism retroreflective elements with improved light reflective properties.
